How to get ready for accreditation
Learning from the evaluation of the programme has highlighted a number of key factors to be successful in the programme.
To get ready to start the programme, the following things will be helpful:
Securing commitment from senior leadership in the organisation. Leadership commitment is integral for driving organisational change.
Ensuring that sufficient time and resource are allocated to completing the programme. There is no cost to join the programme but it does require staff time.
Understanding the barriers facing women in your organisation and being aware of where improvements can be made.
Identifying who may be best to sit on the working group. The working group is responsible for driving the work forward, so it’s important to have the right people involved.
If you’re not ready to join the programme, but are interested in learning more about what you can do, Close the Gap’s self-assessment tool, Think Business, Think Equality, is a useful first step towards changing your practice. Think Business, Think Equality links closely to the work you’d do for Equally Safe at Work. It provides tailored advice and sets out the simple steps you can take so that your business can realise the benefits of gender equality and diversity.
